The 12th Asian Adapted Physical Education and Exercise (ASAPE2012) had been held from Aug 9 to 11, 2012 at the Hong Kong Institute of Education (HKIEd), Hong Kong. The event was Joint-organized by the Asian Society of Adapted Physical Education and Exercise and the Center for Special Educational Needs and Inclusive Education. The conference theme “Contemporary Trends, Research, and Teaching/Coaching/Programming in Adapted Physical Activity,” is very much aligned with Asia and Hong Kong’s educational priorities to develop the full spectrum of our future teachers.
 
About 200 participants from Korea, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, Philippians, India, Malaysia, Mainland China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong had registered the symposium, and more than 150 participants presented diversified programs covering various topics and areas through video, oral and poster sessions, and as well as workshops.
 
It is recognized that the Asian Adapted Physical Education and Exercise Symposium had provided a great platform for all delegates and professionals from different countries to discuss their innovative idea and practices, and much sharing and learning had taken place during the two-half days symposium. We hope that the synergy and sharing of ideas will lead to new initiatives and better practices in Asian and Hong Kong.
 
The 12th Asian Adapted Physical Education and Exercise board member meeting was held during symposium (August 10), and promote ASAPE in Asia, facilitate communication amount Asian countries, new board member renewal/recruitment, and several issues had been discussed. All members had elected Prof Tomoyasu YASUI from Japan as our new president of ASAPE (2012-2014), and Fujian, China had been recommended to be the next country to hold the ASAPE2014.
